Acclaimed physicist and author Alan Lightman offers a contrast of the methods and beliefs of science and religion, the different kinds of knowledge in science and religion, and how that knowledge is arrived at. He also discusses the transcendent experience and the role of faith in both science and religion. The lecture is based on his forthcoming book Searching for Stars on an Island in Maine.
